Effectiveness and adaptalibility

The ReGrow research project produces high-quality and diverse new information on the factors influencing the effectiveness of innovations and the adaptability of the economy. The project's work packages examine innovations, companies, high-skilled innovation work, and the importance of entrepreneurship and investment in various industries. The project also examines how new innovations are identified, how new information is applied and how Finland compares to other countries in different fields (eg environment, health, paper)? The researched data supports the national innovation strategy and contributes to the development of new operating models.

Creative destruction

The researched information enables more effective management of the transformation and creative destruction of work, enables peer review of innovation and technology processes in different sectors and in different countries. We study e.g. how new ideas are made, what innovation work is like during Covid-19, and how innovations are generated in networks and projects. We are also interested in how innovation-related know-how is transferred with employees to other companies.gfd

IT outsourcing

Broad literature (e.g. Bruenig et al. 2019, Görg, et al. 2008) studies the impact of IT outsourcing on business productivity, and poses several interesting questions for the ReGrow project from the perspective of business innovation. Part of the research on innovation continues the previous research of Packalen (University of Waterloo) and Bhattacharya (Stanford).

Platform economy

For example, the platform economy has introduced new ways of organizing high-competence work related to value creation in companies and the development of innovations (e.g. Poutanen & Kovalainen & Rouvinen, 2020; Kenney & Zysman, 2019). Part of the innovation research focuses on the new order of high-competence work. The Covid-19 situation has changed the way innovation is developed, but to what extent and how permanently?

Transitions

The transfer of employees from one company to another or from a large organization to be an entrepreneur also transfers innovation-related know-how. The project examines these transitions and the transfer of innovations in employee / entrepreneurial positions.
